Stone Farm Cottage is a beautifully presented single-storey granite retreat on a smallholding with views to the sea from the garden. The bright and airy cottage has been thoughtfully restored retaining the original beams and with a wood burning stove for cooler days. Best suited to a couple or small family looking for a quiet, rural escape with easy access to the coast.
Beyond the garden, the ruins of historic of tin mine engines are scattered across the landscape and a small stream runs through the grounds. Guests have access to a covered heated swimming pool with a shower and changing facilities from early June to September.
The cottage is a good base for exploring West Cornwall. Britain’s most westerly town St Just, a 10 minute drive away, has a rich mining heritage with several museums telling the story of the area. Cape Cornwall, a distinctive headland, is a rugged home to many seabirds, and a small cove still used by fishermen today. The town square has a good selection of independent shops, galleries, pubs, and places to eat.
Trewidden, one of the Great Gardens of Cornwall, can be reached in around 15 minutes. Planted in the 19th century, the 15 acre site has fantastic collection of camellias, rhododendrons and magnolias with a maze of paths and stunning views.
The village of Pendeen is within walking distance and has a general store, a post office, and four pubs serving food. Due to the smallholding’s secluded location a car is required for most other amenities and days out.
