Situated just 2 miles from Wadebridge, Hay Barn is a stone barn conversion on a working pasture farm. Best suited to a family or group of friends looking to explore Cornwall’s countryside and coast.
Accessed via a long drive leading from a quiet country lane, the accommodation is arranged ‘upside down’ to make the most of the beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Windows on all aspects ensure the barn is airy and bright, while double glazing and a wood burning stove keeps things warm on cooler days.
Wadebridge is a great base from which to discover Cornwall. It sits on the the Camel Trail, an 18 mile disused railway line, running through some of South West England’s most spectacular countryside.
The town is also within easy reach of some of Cornwall’s most popular towns and villages including Padstow (20 mins), a picturesque fishing port with several golden sandy beaches and a world-class culinary scene; St Agnes (40 mins) home to the iconic Wheal Coates tine mine engine houses; and St Ives (1 hour), with independent shops and boutiques, world-class seafood restaurants, and Tate St Ives showcasing works by modern British artists.
Bodmin Moor is a 40 minute drive away, known for its rugged landscape, granite tors, prehistoric landmarks, free roaming ponies, and myths and legends. Hike to Brown Willy and Rough Tor, Cornwall’s highest peaks, stop by the 18th century Jamaica Inn made famous in Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name, and pose for a photography by the Cheesewring, an impressive natural geological formation of stacked granite rocks.
Wadebridge itself has a good range of shops, restaurants, and pubs serving everything from local specialities to international dishes. Due to the farm’s secluded location, a car is required for most days out.
