Situated on the outskirts of Hayle, Bay View Barn is a beautifully converted former farm building on an arable farm. Retaining vaulted ceilings, exposed timber beams, and whitewashed stone walls, the single-storey barn has been comfortably furnished to provide a fantastic base for a couple or solo traveler looking to explore the coast and countryside of south west Cornwall.

Outside, the cottage benefits from a small, decked garden complete with a barbecue with lovely views over the surrounding farmland which grows strawberries, cauliflower, broccoli, and courgettes.

Hayle is a pretty port town situated at the mouth of the River Hayle. It has a stunning beach comprising of three miles of golden sand backed by dues with excellent conditions for swimming and surfing.

The area is a haven for nature lovers with an RSPB reserve sitting in the river’s estuary. Comprising saltmarsh, mudflats, and tidal lagoons, the reserve attracts thousands of gulls, waders, and wildfowl. Nearby, Paradise Park and Jungle Garden is an award-winning wildlife sanctuary home to penguins, Caribbean flamingos, rainbow lorikeets, and red pandas set in exotic gardens with a fantastic indoor play facility for children, while Godrevy Point, at the northern end of Hayle beach, is one of the best places in Cornwall for spotting seals.

Bay View Barn is well placed for visiting many of Cornwall’s other coastal towns and villages. St Ives, less than 20 minutes away, is renowned for its vibrant arts scene, and cobbled streets lined with an excellent selection of independent boutiques, galleries, cafés, and restaurants. On the south coast, in the historic town of Marazion, visitors can walk along a cobbled causeway to St Michael’s Mount, and explore a 12th century castle, medieval church, and subtropical terraced gardens. From Penzance, take a ferry or helicopter flight to the Isles of Scilly, to experience white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and laid-back island life in an exceptionally mild climate.

Hayle has a good range of shops including supermarkets, pubs, and places to eat just a five minute walk from the farm. The town also has a railway station with direct trains to Truro, Bodmin Parkway, Plymouth, and Exeter.
