Situated on the Ford & Etal Estates, Barmoor Ridge is a delightful cottage on a working farm in a quiet rural location. Well-equipped and comfortably furnished with a wood burning stove housed in an original fireplace, it is ideal for a family or couple looking to explore Northumberland’s beautiful countryside and coast, with golf, horse riding, and fishing nearby.
Outside, the cottage benefits from an enclosed garden secure enough for dogs, complete with dining furniture, a barbecue, mature planting, and wonderful views towards the Cheviot Hills and sea.
The farm is home to sheep grazing in the surrounding fields, and in spring, guests may have the opportunity to meet new born lambs. There is also an abundance of wildlife in the grounds including hares, rabbits, deer, and birdlife. Guests should note that there is a busy road to the front of the property, and children must be supervised.
Northumberland’s charming coastal villages and attractions are all within easy reach, including Lindisfarne, renowned for its 16th century castle and spectacular nature reserve; Bamburgh, with its imposing fortress and links to Grace Darling; and Seahouses, where boat trips to the Farne Islands depart from the picturesque harbour.
The dark skies, abundance of wildlife, Roman ruins, and unspoilt landscape of Northumberland National Park can be reached in around 15 minutes, and the Scottish Borders are under an hour away.
The cottage is situated between the villages of Lowick and Ford where guests will find a general store and a good selection of pubs and places to eat.
