Situated in the heart of the Peak District just three miles from the village of Bradwell, The Dairy is a well-presented, semi-detached barn conversion on a working farm. Thoughtfully restored retaining exposed timber beams and a quarry tiled floor, the cottage has been comfortably furnished to provide a fantastic base for a family or group of friends looking to explore this beautiful part of the world.
Outside, The Dairy benefits from a shared courtyard with wonderful views over the surrounding farmland where there is an abundance of wildlife including hares, skylarks, and curlews.
Forest Lane Farm is home to sheep with the opportunity to see lambs in spring. Horses are housed in stables nearby the cottage, and guests are welcome to collect eggs from the chickens and watch activities on the farm like harvesting and hay baling. For those travelling with dogs or children, there are several paddocks where they can play safely.
The cottage is well placed for the Peak District’s excellent walking and cycling routes including the traffic-free Monsal Trail, Mam Tor & The Great Ridge with stunning views of the Edale and Hope Valleys, and the stepping stones at Chee Dale.
Chatsworth House with its magnificent art collections, deer park, and award-winning gardens is just a 25 minute drive away, while the fortified medieval manor house at Haddon Hall can be reached in half an hour.
Nearby Buxton is one England’s finest spa towns renowned for its beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture, Grade II listed opera house, and the Devonshire Dome, once one of the largest unsupported domes in the northern hemisphere. The town also has an excellent range of independent shops, cafés, tearooms, restaurants, and pubs.
Other attractions close by include Poole’s Cavern, Peveril Castle, Matlock Farm Park, and Gulliver’s Kingdom.
Tideswell is a thriving village with a magnificent church known as the Cathedral of the Peak, a nature reserve with a sculpture trail, and an annual food festival.
