Set in the grounds of a Grade II listed 18th century manor house, The Bullshed is a delightful stone barn conversion on a family-run working farm just a couple of miles from West Cornwall’s beautiful coastline. The barn has been thoughtfully restored retaining exposed beams and vaulted ceilings, while in winter a wood burning stove keeps things warm. Well-equipped, it provides comfortable accommodation for a couple or solo traveller. A cot and highchair can be provided for a baby., and guests should be aware that access to the bathroom is only possible through the bedroom.

The Bullshed is set around a courtyard alongside five other cottages, and although there is no private garden there is a small seating area with barbecues available to borrow. Also on the estate is a solar heated outdoor swimming pool open from June to September with changing facilities and a pool house providing refreshments payable via an honest box. Next to the pool is a shared lawn with space for a picnic and garden games, and a restored barn houses a games room.

Once a livestock and daffodil farm, the owners now grow arable crops and keep hens. Guests have full access to the farmland with scenic walks through the fields and alongside the river where there is plenty of wildlife to look out for.

Just 3 miles away is the picturesque town of Marazion with a long sandy beach ideal for swimming, rockpooling, and surfing. Walk the ancient causeway at low tide or take a short motorboat ride to St Michael’s Mount with its iconic castle, medieval church, and subtropical terraced gardens. Marazion has a good range of independent shops and places to eat as well as a small museum and art gallery showcasing works by local Cornish artists. Other surfing beaches within easy reach include Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe, and Sennen Cove.

The RSPB reserve at Hayle Estuary can be reached in under 10 minutes where tidal lagoons, wet meadows, ponds, and sandbanks attract huge numbers of wildfowl and waders. Nearby is Paradise Park & JungleBarn, a wildlife sanctuary with over a thousand birds and animals including flamingos, penguins, red pandas, and pygmy goats.

St Ives, around a 20 minute drive away, has a picturesque tidal harbour, a good range of independent shops and boutiques, world-class seafood restaurants, and Tate St Ives with a collection of work by modern British artists.

St Erth has a village store with a post office, a traditional pub serving food, and a railway station with direct trains to Penzance, Truro, Bodmin Parkway, Plymouth, and Exeter.
