Situated on the northern border of the North Pennines National Landscape, The Barn Cottage is a delightful conversion on a secluded livestock farm 6 miles from Hexham. Ideal for a small family or couple looking to explore Northumberland’s countryside and coast.
Thoughtfully restored to retain exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace housing a wood burning stove, the cottage is well-equipped with contemporary interiors. Guests should note that there are sloping ceilings in the bedrooms with restricted height in some areas.
Outside, the cottage benefits from a lawned garden with a patio and picnic bench overlooking horses in paddocks, and sheep grazing in the surrounding fields.
The North Pennines has miles of excellent walking and cycling trails crossing open heather moors, peatland, dales, and upland hay meadows dotted with pretty stone villages and market towns.
Northumberland National Park, renowned for its unspoiled landscape, dark skies ideal for stargazing, abundance of wildlife, and Roman ruins, can be reached in under half an hour, while Hadrian’s Wall is about a 40 minutes drive.
Hexham is an attractive market town with an impressive 12th century abbey, independent shops, a regular farmers market, pubs, and places to eat. It also has a railway station with direct trains to Newcastle, Middlesborough, and Carlisle.
