Stone Farm Cottage is a charming, family-friendly holiday home set on a working farm on the outskirts of Wortley, a historic village in South Yorkshire.
Adjoining the owner’s residence, the cottage has been beautifully refurbished to a high standard and offers comfortable accommodation throughout. It includes a spacious kitchen that opens onto a welcoming dining area, perfect for enjoying home-cooked meals with the whole family. The garden, mainly laid to lawn, has lovely views over the surrounding fields, home to horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens. On clear days, you can even see glimpses of the Peak District in the distance.
Guests are invited to take a tour of the farm with the owner. Children, in particular, will delight in feeding the animals or experiencing lambing season first-hand. Fresh farm produce, including eggs and sausages, is also available to buy.
Wortley itself is renowned for its attractive stone-built houses and has a traditional village pub, quaint local shops, a golf course, and a museum dedicated to the area’s ironworking heritage. The village is close to the Trans Pennine Trail, a scenic long-distance route running coast to coast across Northern England, and just a short drive from the larger towns of Barnsley and Sheffield, making it an ideal base for exploring the wider region.
