Set on a 22 acre smallholding, Stable Cottage is a delightful barn conversion with a wealth of period features including exposed stone walls, timber beams, a traditional fireplace, and the original stable doors. Well-equipped and comfortably furnished it’s ideally suited for a couple or solo traveller looking to explore the stunning Northumbrian coastline.
The smallholding is home to donkeys, mules, sheep, and lambs in spring, and guests are welcome to walk the grounds and meet the animals.
Newton-on-the-Moor is a picturesque village with locally quarried stone buildings with distinctive red-tiled roofs and a traditional inn with an excellent restaurant and spacious beer garden.
Alnwick with its imposing Norman castle of Harry Potter fame, stunning, contemporary gardens, and a good range of shops and places to eat can be reached in 10 minutes. The cottage is also well placed for Alnmouth’s wide, sandy beach, Embleton Bay overlooked by the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, and Beadnell with a sheltered harbour and good watersports facilities.
Northumberland National Park, renowned for its dark skies, rare wildlife, rugged landscapes, scenic walking and cycling routes, and Roman ruins, is just over half an hour away, with Hadrian’s Wall also easily accessible.
Due to the cottage’s secluded location, a car is required and sat nav may be patchy, but the A1 is close by.
