Situated in deep rural Devon, between Tiverton and Crediton, Shepherd’s Bliss is a beautifully presented shepherd’s hut on a working livestock farm. Set in a paddock overlooking a picturesque valley, it’s ideal for a couple or solo traveller looking for a peaceful countryside escape. Please note that while infants and children over the age of 10 are welcome, no baby equipment or play facilities are provided, and care should be taken at the steps to the hut and around the pond. Guests should also be aware that although dogs are not allowed, the owners have their own dog.
Thoughtfully furnished and well equipped, the hut is suitable as a glamping retreat all year round year-round, thanks to underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove.
Outside, the hut benefits from private garden complete with a patio, outdoor dining furniture, a barbecue, fire pit, and jacuzzi hot tub, and the nearby pond attracts a variety of ducks and geese. Guests are also welcome to walk the footpaths or enjoy a picnic on the farm which rears sheep and beef cattle.
The surrounding area is dotted with picture-postcard villages and market towns, and nearby attractions include Knightshayes Court, the Devon Railway Centre, and Bickleigh Castle.
Shepherd’s Bliss is ideally located for exploring both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, each less than an hour’s drive away. For days by the sea, Exmouth, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast, lies to the south, while Saunton Sands, an excellent surfing beach, can be found on the north coast.
A local community shop with a post office and off licence is less than a mile away, and several country pubs serving food are within 5 miles.
