Situated on a coastal working farm just off the spectacular Atlantic Highway, Razorbill is a quirky glamping eco-pod whose curved design reflects the surfing culture of this beautiful part of Cornwall. Ideal for a couple or small family looking for a camping experience with all the comfort of a cosy bedroom.
The pod has been well-equipped with underfloor heating, a kitchenette, giant beanbags, a king-size bed, pull out beds for children, and an external wet room with a hot shower and proper flushing toilet, while the front opens up fully to reveal an uninterrupted view of the sky.
Outside, the pod benefits from its own private deck with a gas barbecue, overlooking a large lawned garden with palm trees and colourful flower borders shared with other pods on the site.
Guests are also able to hire a fire pit and, on days when the Cornish weather is not at its best, make use of a barbecue hut. On site facilities include a laundry room, secure children’s play area, and a small honesty shop selling the farm’s own eggs and basic essentials.
For those feeling creative, the shell studio offers a fun way to spend a few hours. With over 300 different kinds of seashells and dozens of crafting materials, guests can have a go at making their own unique creations from trinket boxes and jewellery to a decorated mirror frame.
The farm is a mixed farm, home to sheep, pigs, alpacas, chickens, and, geese. There are numerous paths and tracks running along the fields from where visitors can see an abundance of wildlife. Nearby, the Bude Canal and River Neet are lovely places to explore, with bike and rowing boat hire both available near the farm.
Bude is a charming coastal town, known for its excellent surfing and family-friendly atmosphere. Summerleaze, the main beach, is a wide stretch of golden sand backed by dunes with a semi-natural, tidal pool that’s a safe haven for swimming. There are also opportunities for coasteering, kayaking, and standup paddleboarding.
Overlooking the beach is The Castle Bude, a Grade II listed building converted into a heritage centre that explores local history and culture, and hosts a programme of events including live music throughout the year.
The town centre has a good range of independent shops, lively pubs, and places to eat.
The South West Coast Path passes through Bude with direct walks to Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven, and over the border into Devon. The town is also well placed for exploring the Hartland Peninsula, an unspoiled stretch of coast with towering cliffs, fascinating zig-zag rock formations, spectacular waterfalls, and the opportunity to spot grey seals.
The wild, rugged landscapes of Bodmin Moor can be reached in under an hour, home to granite tors, ancient monuments, and iconic free roaming ponies.
Other attractions near Puffin Pod include Tintagel Castle, The Milky Way Adventure Park, the National Trust’s Dunsland, Launceston Steam Railway, and Tamar Lakes with a whole host of outdoor activities available.
Just a few minutes' walk away from the farm, you'll find a traditional pub serving classic dishes, complete with a beer garden with wonderful sea views, as well as an independent brewery and taproom.
