A former farm worker's cottage with an open fire set on a working farm close to castles, fishing villages, and sandy beaches.
Situated just 2 miles from the historic market town of Alnwick, Paddock Cottage is a delightful home-from-home with an open fire set on a working farm with beautiful views towards the Cheviot Hills.
The farm keeps cows, horses, and three friendly pet pigs, and guests are welcome to help feed the animals and meet newborn calves in spring. With a spacious enclosed garden, it’s a good fit for families or those bringing a dog.
Alnwick is known for its spectacular Norman castle used as a location for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films; the Duchess of Northumberland’s contemporary gardens with cherry trees, water features, and a magical treehouse; and Barter Books, an iconic secondhand bookshop.
Nearby Alnmouth has a beautiful dog-friendly sandy beach which connects directly to the Northumberland Coast Path and St Oswald Way with wonderful walking routes towards Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle. Northumberland National Park, famous for its dark skies, abundance of wildlife, Roman ruins, and unspoilt landscape can be reached in around half an hour.
