1 Barn Cottages is part of a Grade II listed barn conversion dating back to the 17th century, thoughtfully transformed into a romantic bolthole for couples wishing to explore the surrounding area of West Yorkshire. The cottage has a bright, airy open-plan interior with a compact yet well-equipped kitchen, ideal for preparing home-cooked meals to enjoy at the breakfast bar while taking in the beautiful farmland scenery through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside is a small patio, perfect for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine as the sun sets over the fields.
Right on your doorstep are numerous footpaths and bridleways, and with stables on site, you are welcome to bring your horse on holiday. Just a few hundred metres away lies the Calderdale Way, a circular trail that takes in Halifax, Hebden Bridge, and Todmorden. Following ancient packhorse routes across open gritstone hillsides, it weaves through traditional stone causeways, hillside villages, and historic mill towns along the River Calder.
For a day out, the nearby minster town of Halifax is a great place to discover Georgian and Victorian landmarks. Highlights include the Piece Hall, a Grade I listed cloth hall, and Shibden Hall, made famous as the filming location of Gentleman Jack, which tells the story of its former owner, Anne Lister, as well as museums, art galleries, and theatres.
Closer to home, the charming village of Norwood Green offers picturesque stone-built houses, a historic church, a pretty village green, and welcoming pubs, including one that dates back to 1533.
Distances are calculated “as the crow flies”, so actual driving, cycling, and walking distances may differ.
