A farm holiday by the sea offers the best of both worlds with beautiful countryside to explore alongside easy access to the coast. Rural beaches are often far quieter than traditional seaside resorts, giving you plenty of space to enjoy swimming, beach games, kite flying, picnics, or a leisurely walk.

We offer a wide selection of farm stays within 10 miles of the sea, but if you’d prefer to be even closer, this hand-picked collection of coastal farms are all just a stone’s throw away, with the beach either a short walk across fields or directly accessible via the coastal path.

Round Barn, Ilfracombe, Devon

Situated on a working farm with alpacas, sheep, goats, and chickens, Round Barn is perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful coastal escape. The barn has been thoughtfully designed with a contemporary interiors that complement beautifully the original beams and quirky round living space.

Ideal for families, outside there is a children’s play area, a dog exercise field, and plenty of places to enjoy a picnic while taking in the stunning sea views. Guests are more than welcome to meet the animals and help out at feeding time.

Just 500 yards from the cottage is a private beach which at low tide reveals a large expanse of sand from you can swim, fish or walk around to Watermouth Harbour. Exmoor National Park is just a short drive away while nearby Ilfracombe has a charming heritage harbour from where you can take boat trips across to Lundy Island.

The Lookout Tower, Beer, Devon

Built for the Napoleonic Wars, The Lookout Tower is a beautifully presented holiday home situated on a coastal livestock farm on top of the cliffs at Beer Head. Designed with accessibility in mind it includes a pneumatic lift which takes gusts up to the second floor where they will find a fabulous sitting room with a wood burning stove and triple aspect windows to take advantage of the stunning sea views.

Outside, on the first floor is a sunny terrace perfect for leisurely al fresco dining or enjoying the spectacular sunrises and sunsets seen over the bay, while, on the ground floor is a sauna to help soothe tired muscles after a day out exploring.

Bridleways on the farm lead directly on to the South West Coast Path. Climb down to Hooken beach backed by cliffs which are some of the best for fossil hunting in North Devon, Or make the short walk to Beer, a picturesque village with a shingle beach where fishermen still bring in daily catches.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Yr Efail is a stylish barn conversion enjoying panoramic sea views over towards Holyhead Harbour. Thoughtfully restored with contemporary interiors the cottage is ideally placed for a family looking to explore Anglesey’s stunning coastline.

Situated on a family-run working sheep and beef farm, Curlew Cottage is a beautifully presented holiday home just 200 yards from the beach and with fantastic views over Fleet Bay. Floor to ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, while a covered veranda is the perfect spot to enjoy an evening drink while taking in the spectacular sunsets.

The cottage is within easy access of the South West Coastal 300, a scenic driving route that passes by breathtaking coastline, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and a multitude of charming towns and villages. It also takes in Galloway Forest Park with its beautiful forest trails and incredible wildlife. The forest is designated as an International Dark Sky Park, and on a clear night, over 7,000 stars and planets are visible to the naked eye, with the bright band of the Milky Way seen arching across the sky.

Brynymor Cottage, Llangennith, Swansea

Situated on a small family-run farm in a picture postcard hamlet, Brynymor Cottage is just a few minutes’ walk from the stunning Gower coastline. Designed to take advantage of the sea views, the cottage is arranged with the living space on the upper level. Through floor-to-ceiling windows, guests can look directly over Broughton Bay to the north and Worm’s Head to the west.

Outside there’s a spacious terrace with dining furniture and a summerhouse, the perfect spot to enjoy some of the very best sunsets in Wales. The farm is home to sheep, ducks, chickens, ponies, and in spring there is the opportunity to see lambs being born and taking their first steps.

With direct access to the coast path, there are plenty of walks to be enjoyed along the cliff tops, coves, and bays, as well as hillside walks around the peninsula.

Set in the heart of a traditional mixed farm, Six The Square is a charming cottage offering contemporary accommodation to a family or group of friends looking to explore the wild Northumbrian coastline.

The farm has been in the same family for over one hundred years and grows a range of arable crops, with beef cattle and breeding ewes which lamb outside in April. Farmed with sustainability in mind, it’s a haven for wildlife supporting almost 150 species of birds, some of which are on the endangered list.

Just a short walk over the fields leads to Lindisfarne Nature Reserve from where it’s possible to see Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, and the Farne Islands. The reserve is of international importance particularly in winter when vast flocks of wildfowl and waders arrive to feed.

Glan Morfa Ganol is a thoughtfully converted barn with a wood burning stove set on a working farm, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach. The beach is a popular spot for horse riding, and with grazing available at the cottage, guests are welcome to bring their own horse along for the stay.
