The Wagon Linney

Lee Barton Farm,
Bude,
Cornwall,
England

Why you’ll love staying here

Situated in the village of Kilkhampton just five miles from the centre of Bude, The Wagon Linney is a stone barn conversion on a working dairy farm in stunning countryside.

With exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, and spacious bright and airy living accommodation, it’s ideal for an extended family or group looking to explore North Cornwall’s beautiful countryside and coast, without the premium price of staying right in the heart of Bude. Guests should note that due to the age of the property, there is restricted height in some of the upper floor rooms.

Outside, The Wagon Linney benefits from its own private patio overlooking a pretty courtyard shared with other cottages on the farm. Guests also have access to a large lawned garden with picnic benches, swings, and a children's play area.

The farm has been in the same family for generations and extends to 200 acres. Guests are welcome to explore the grounds, which include wildlife ponds and woodland walks. A path from the farm leads directly to Duckpool, a remote National Trust cove with rock pools and the remains of a small 12th century castle.

Cows can be seen grazing in the surrounding fields, and visitors can watch as they make their own way to the milking parlour, where they are milked using an automated system.

The farm has a pop up tea room and runs a series of events throughout the year such as crafting activities, Christmas wreath making, and singing groups.

Bude is a charming coastal town, known for its excellent surfing and family-friendly atmosphere. Summerleaze, the main beach, is a wide stretch of dog-friendly golden sand backed by dunes with a semi-natural, tidal pool that’s a safe haven for swimming, and traditional beach huts that can be hired on a ‘per night’ basis.

Overlooking the beach is The Castle Bude, a Grade II listed building converted into a heritage centre that explores local history and culture, and hosts a programme of events including vintage fairs, live music, and workshops. The town centre has a good range of independent shops, lively pubs, and places to eat.

The South West Coast Path passes through Bude with direct walks to Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven, and over the border into Devon. Along the way you’ll be rewarded with dramatic views of the Atlantic ocean, rugged cliffs, and the chance to spot seals and dolphins.

Other attractions reached within the hour include Tintagel Castle, The Milkyway Adventure Park, Tamar Lakes, Pencarrow House and Garden, and the wild landscapes of Bodmin Moor.

Kilkhampton has a village store, two inns serving traditional pub food, and a handful of shops. All other amenities, including supermarkets, are in Bude.

Lee Barton Farm is accessed via narrow country lanes which may be a challenge for some drivers. Due its secluded location, a car is required for days out.
