Situated just ten miles from Bridlington, Plough Cottage is a stylish barn conversion on an arable farm. Thoughtfully converted to retain original features including exposed brick walls, timber beams, and apex ceilings. Well-equipped and finished to a high standard, it’s ideal for a couple or solo traveller looking to explore the beautiful coast and countryside of East Yorkshire.
Outside, the cottage benefits from its own private patio with a hot tub. There is also a larger shared lawned garden with a covered seating area, a lovely spot to relax, accompanied only by the sound of birdsong and the distant hum of a tractor working its way across the fields.
Guests are welcome to explore the farm which has chickens and guinea fowl wandering the grounds, while those visiting over summer are welcome to watch the harvest. The farm supports an abundance of wildlife including pheasants, deer, hares, rabbits, and foxes.
Bridlington is a busy seaside resort with two sandy beaches, elegant Edwardian promenade, and pre-Roman harbour renowned for its lobster pots. The Old Town is well worth exploring, with cobbled streets lined with Georgian architecture, antique shops, and welcoming pubs.
A little further along the coast lies Flamborough Head and the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs. During spring and summer, the chalk cliffs become home to one of the UK's most impressive seabird colonies, with thousands of puffins, gannets, guillemots, and kittiwakes arriving to breed. The headland also offers excellent opportunities for coastal walks, with fantastic views across the North Sea.
The North York Moors National Park can be reached in around an hour where heather moorland, ancient forests, wooded dales, and a rugged coastline are dotted with waterfalls, prehistoric burial mounds, medieval abbeys, and pretty stone built villages and market towns.
Other nearby attractions include Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Beverley Minster, The Deep Aquarium, and the Streetlife Museum of Transport.
For groceries and other everyday essentials, the village of Nafferton is a ten minute drive away. As well as a range of shops, you'll find several pubs and places to eat, along with a railway station with direct services to Hull and York.
