Situated just over three miles from Honiton, Pear Tree Cottage is a converted milking parlour set on a working farm on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. Thoughtfully restored retaining exposed timber beams with bright and airy interiors, while a wood burning stove and underfloor heating keeps things warm on cooler days. Perfect for a family or group of friends looking to explore the East Devon countryside and coast. The ground floor bedroom and wet room are fully accessible making it ideal for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.
Outside, the cottage benefits from a enclosed garden complete with a barbecue, which backs onto a small orchard leading to open farmland and woodland. Guests also have access to the farm’s cider barn, with the ground floor used for producing apple juice, and the upper floor now a games room.
The farm itself extends to almost 100 acres and has been in the same family since the early 1900s. It is home to a herd of Ruby Red Devon cattle and a flock of sheep, with the opportunity to meet newborn calves and lambs in spring. A track runs through the farm’s fields and woodland, offering stunning views across the valley.
The market town of Honiton has long been associated with lace making and pottery. Today it is better known for its twice-weekly market, antique shops specialising in furniture, art and second-hand books, and its wealth of independent shops, galleries, and cafés.
