Situated on the outskirts of Ventnor, Moonlight is a spacious yurt with a wood burning stove on a coastal farm in the heart of The Undercliff, a south-facing stretch of countryside renowned for its sheltered microclimate, often enjoying warmer temperatures than anywhere else on the Isle of Wight.
With sweeping views across the English Channel, the yurt sits in a 2 acre paddock backed by woodland where red squirrels can be spotted, and has access to a kitchen, hot shower, and proper flushing toilet. Ideal for a family or couple looking for a memorable glamping trip. Guests should note there is no access to WiFi in the yurt.
Outside, Moonlight benefits from a fire pit and a walled, outdoor cooking area complete with a gas cooker, barbecue, pizza oven. The farm also has an excellent range of on-site facilities including an outdoor play area with swings, a slide, climbing frame, and basketball hoop, a large play field with pitch-and-putt, football goals, picnic tables, and plenty of space for games or kite flying, and a games barn with table football, table tennis, and badminton nets.
Guests are welcome to explore the 30 acres of farmland which is home to sheep with lambs in spring as well as a resident pony and donkey. A footpath marked by colourful fishing buoys winds through the fields to join the coastal path, with Orchards Bay and Battery Bay lying directly below, perfect for swimming, rock pooling, and crabbing.
Ventnor is a traditional seaside resort with a sand and shingle beach backed by cliffs with vintage beach huts and striped deckchairs. It has a lively promenade and excellent watersports facilities, while the harbour offers freshly landed fish and local seafood. The Ventnor Botanic Garden is just a short walk away where around 6,000 species of rare and subtropical plants and trees grow across 22 acres.
Renowned as one of the Isle of Wight’s leading food destinations, Ventnor has an excellent selection of restaurants, bistros, and traditional pubs, alongside artisan food shops, independent boutiques, and supermarkets.
The Isle of Wight’s other attractions are easily accessible including The Needles, three stacks of chalk cliffs rising almost 100 feet out of the sea; Queen Victoria’s summer home Osborne House; and Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, home to a variety of big cats, bears, monkeys, reptiles, birds, and more.
With horse riding, golf, walking, and cycling trails on the doorstep, Moonlight is a fantastic base for a seaside holiday with a difference.
