Situated on the outskirts of Alderwasley, Holly Cottage is a 19th century single-storey barn conversion on a working farm. Beautifully converted retaining vaulted ceilings, timber beams, and exposed brickwork with stylish farm-themed interiors while underfloor heating and a wood burning stove keeps things warm on cooler days. Ideal for a couple or solo traveller looking for a peaceful, rural break. Guests should note the cottage is accessed via narrow country lanes which may be a challenge for some drivers.

Outside, the cottage benefits from a patio shared with seven other properties on the farm with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.

The farm is home to a herd of Hereford beef cattle and, depending on the time of year, guests may have the opportunity to see calves and bulls. The owners would be delighted to take guests on a tour of the farm to see the cows, learn about the day-to-day running of the farm, and help out with feeding.

Holly Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the heather moorlands, blanket bogs, and limestone dales of the Peak District National Park. Attractions in the park include Chatsworth Estate comprising a magnificent Grade II listed house, a 105-acre garden, working farmyard, and over 1,800 acres of parkland; Ladybower Reservoir famous for its two massive ‘plugholes’; and Peak Cavern, also known as Devil’s Arse, a natural show cave containing historic rope works that offers guided tours to view stunning geological formations.

The Peak District is also excellent for walkers and cyclists with Mam Tor & The Great Ridge, The Roaches and Lud's Church, and Dovedale Stepping Stones offering a variety of routes for all abilities.

Other attractions within easy reach include Old Crich Tramway Village, Carsington Water, Heights of Abraham, and Matlock Farm Park.

Alderwasley has a village store, post office, and an 18th century pub serving food. For supermarkets and other amenities, the market town of Belper can be reached in 15 minutes, while the railway station at Whatstandwell, a mile away, has direct trains to Derby, Nottingham, and Lincoln.
