Situated just 15 miles from Shrewsbury, Willow Barn is a well-presented converted dairy on a working livestock farm with stunning countryside views. Arranged around a courtyard alongside three other properties, the red brick barn has been thoughtfully restored to preserve the original character with exposed oak beams, vaulted ceilings, and weathered brickwork. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the contemporary living spaces with light, while underfloor heating and a wood burning stove keep things warm on cooler days. Ideal for a family or group of friends looking for a peaceful rural getaway.
Outside is a spacious garden complete with a barbecue, secure enough for dogs and children to play safely. The farm is home to cattle and sheep which can be seen grazing in the surrounding fields, and guests are welcome to walk along the public footpaths through the grounds
Shrewsbury is a market town that lies in a loop of the River Severn. The centre has meandering streets lined with half-timbered Tudor buildings, overlooked by Shrewsbury Castle which houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum, where military artefacts include pictures, uniforms, medals, and weaponry. The town has a good range of independent shops, high street brands, pubs, and places to eat.
The Shropshire Hills can be reached in around an hour, with excellent walking opportunities at Carding Mill Valley, The Long Mynd, and The Devil’s Chair, a quartzite-topped ridge known for its eerie rock formations and mythic legends.
There are plenty of family-friendly attractions nearby. Highlights include Hawkstone Park Follies (20 mins), a magical landscape full of mysterious caves, cliffs, towers, and nature trails to explore; Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World (45 mins), with petting barns, daily animal encounters, and interactive woodland walks dotted with animatronic dinosaurs; and Ironbridge Gorge (50 mins), a UNESCO World Heritage site, with 10 award-winning museums, including an open-air Victorian town.
A community pub that serves Sunday lunch is just over a mile away. Other pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops, and amenities can be found in Wem, a 10 minute drive from Willow Barn.
