A rustic 17th-century stable conversion with a wood burning stove set on a traditional 1,800-acre hill farm, home to sheep, cattle, and working collies. Ideally suited to couples or families, it offers flexible sleeping arrangements, making it equally suitable for groups of friends who are happy to share.
The cottage retains a wealth of original features, including vaulted beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls, and tiled floors, while around the farm, guests can explore a landscape dotted with ancient monuments, including the remains of Roman camps and prehistoric cup-and-ring marks.
Set in the heart of Northumberland National Park, it’s an excellent base for cyclists. Part of the Sandstone Way passes right by the door, while National Cycle Network Route 68 runs at the end of the farm track. The farm also provides a well-equipped bike station, complete with storage, washing and repair facilities, and charging points.
The stunning Northumbrian coast can be reached in under an hour, offering the chance to visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens, explore the picturesque fishing village of Craster, famous for its smoked kippers, or hop on a boat to the Farne Islands.
Guests should note that the nearest amenities are around six miles away, with the closest pub approximately eight miles from the cottage. Supermarket orders can be delivered. While there is no Wi-Fi, a strong 4G signal can be accessed.
