The Hurdle

Church View Farm,
Neyland,
Pembrokeshire,
Wales

Why you’ll love staying here

Situated just 6 miles from Haverfordwest, The Hurdle is a hand-built shepherd’s hut on a small working farm with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside.

Cleverly designed to provide a compact, but well-equipped glamping retreat with a surprising amount of storage, while a wood burning stove and Welsh blankets keep things warm on cooler days. Ideal for a couple of solo traveller looking to explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside and coast. Guests should note that due to the rural location, WiFi can be patchy.

The farm, which is home to alpacas, chickens, ducks, and geese, has a superb range of facilities including a large lawned garden children’s play area, a sun deck with barbecues, and two wildlife ponds. To the west of the farm is the 12th century church of St Ismael’s, and an Iron Age Hill fort, known as the Rosemarket Rings.

There is also a shop on site selling honey and beeswax candles produced by Church View Farm bees, homegrown, seasonal vegetables, and hand-crafted gifts.

The Hurdle is perfectly placed for exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with over 600 miles of footpaths and bridleways, offshore islands, sandy beaches, hidden coves, and rugged cliffs. Outdoor enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with opportunities for wildlife watching, fishing, surfing, coasteering, kayaking, and wild swimming.

Highlights include St Davids, the UK’s smallest city, the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddi, the puffin colonies at Skomer Island, and dolphin watching at Strumble Head.

There are plenty of other attractions nearby including Folly Farm Adventure Park, the Welsh Spitfire Museum, Scolton Manor, and Wiston Castle, while the Presell Hills are a 40 minute drive.

A village inn serving food is a minute away. For more pubs, shops, places to eat, and other amenities Milford Haven and Haverfordwest can be reached in under 15 minutes. Both towns have railway stations with direct trains to Carmarthen, Swansea, and Cardiff.
