Situated at the foot of the Preseli Hills, Rhostwarch Old Farmhouse is an 18th century farmhouse on an organic farm just 15 minutes from Newport.
Accessed via a private lane, the farmhouse has been thoughtfully restored to retain original features including timber beams, exposed stone walls, and an inglenook fireplace housing a wood burning stove. Ideal for an extended family or group looking to explore Pembrokeshire’s countryside and coast. Guests should note, that due to the age of the farmhouse, there are some low doors and steps on the ground floor.
Outside, there is an enclosed garden secure enough for children and dogs, with a hot tub and dining area complete with a barbecue.
The farm, which is run using traditional farming methods, is home to cows, sheep, horses, and chickens. The owners would be delighted to give guests a tour of the farm and show them the animals and how they are cared for. For those wishing to bring their own horse on holiday, paddocks and stables with bedding and hay are available.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, historic fishing harbours, and sandy beaches are just a 15 minute drive away, while Cardigan Bay, renowned for its spectacular scenery, water sports, and one of the largest populations of bottlenose dolphins in Europe can be reached in half an hour.
Dotted with ancient monuments, the wild moorland of the Preseli Hills has excellent walking and cycling routes passing burial cairns, stone circles, and Bronze Age remains.
Newport is a bustling coastal town with a vibrants arts scene, antique and second hand book shops, independent boutiques, welcoming pubs, and plenty of places to eat. The beach, which is backed by a golf course and welcomes dogs all year round, is popular for swimming, surfing, and bird watching.
