Muirston Farmhouse traditional Scottish farmhouse set on a working farm in East Ayrshire, on the western edge of the hamlet of Sinclairston and around 10 miles from the market town of Ayr. It provides an excellent base for families or groups of friends looking to explore Scotland’s west coast and the Highlands.
The farm extends to almost 400 acres and is home to cattle and sheep, which can be seen grazing in the surrounding fields, with lambs adding extra charm in spring. Set in an elevated position, the farmhouse enjoys attractive views stretching towards the Firth of Clyde.
With whitewashed walls and a traditional slate roof, the farmhouse has been thoughtfully restored to celebrate its heritage. Playful Scottish touches, including stag-print wallpaper, tartan accents, and soft furnishings featuring heather, thistles, sheep, and Highland cows, add warmth and character throughout.
The spacious country-style kitchen forms the heart of the home. Offering generous workspace, a full range of modern appliances, and an Aga for slow cooking, baking, and keeping the room cosy, it is a joy for anyone who loves to cook. At its centre stands a large farmhouse dining table with ample seating, creating a sociable space for shared meals and conversation. A practical utility room sits conveniently alongside.
Next door, the inviting living room is comfortably furnished with plush leather sofas, providing the perfect place to relax with a good book or enjoy a film in the evening.
Two bedrooms and a family bathroom, offering the choice of a bath or a shower, complete the ground floor. Upstairs, two further bedrooms have lovely views across the surrounding farmland.
Outside, a large enclosed lawned garden provides plenty of space for children to play and dogs to run around. A picnic bench and barbecue are provided to enjoy long, leisurely al fresco lunches while taking in the countryside views. After a day exploring, unwind in the wood-fired hot tub. ideal for soothing tired muscles and stargazing under clear Ayrshire skies. Guests also have access to a private course fishing loch which can be used for paddle boarding too.
The nearby village of Ochiltree has a small shop and post office, while Cumnock, just a 15-minute drive away, has a wider selection of shops, supermarkets, and welcoming pubs.
