Situated just 4 miles from Rhayader, Caban Dulas is a contemporary lodge on a working livestock farm set amongst a backdrop of rolling green hills.
Beautifully designed, with a stylish open-plan living space, it’s ideal for a couple, family, or group of friends looking to explore mid Wales.
Outside, the lodge benefits from a private enclosed garden complete with a hot tub and fire pit. Facilities on site include a children’s play area with a climbing frame, swings, and slides, and a small shop selling fresh eggs from the farm, milk, and homemade cakes and pastries.
The family-run farm is home to herds of cattle and sheep which can be seen grazing in the adjacent fields, while guests who visit in spring may have the opportunity to meet new born lambs. There are also some alpacas, goats, and ponies who are always happy to greet a friendly face.
Known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of Wales’, Rhayader is the gateway to the Elan Valley renowned for its reservoirs, Victorian dams, nature reserves, and excellent walking and cycling trails. Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Centre is well worth a visit where visitors can watch hundreds of majestic red kites dive for food daily.
Alternatively, the Brecon Beacons can be reached in about an hour. Hike the famous waterfalls trail, climb Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, explore the National Show Caves, or spend the evening star gazing under some of the darkest skies in the country.
For a day at the beach, the Ceredigion coast is also around an hour away with golden sandy beaches, hidden coves, spectacular clifftop walks, and the chance to spot dolphins and porpoises.
Rhayader is a historic market town situated on the River Wye. With a 1920s clock tower at its centre, it has a good range of shops - including a supermarket - restaurants, tea rooms, and pubs serving food.
